Mid-Tenn Painting, LLC was created based on one idea. That idea was to start a company that wasn’t a fly-by-night painting company who just slapped the cheapest paint on your walls and called it done, but to take pride in each and every job we do. Every project that we work on is unique and needs to be handled differently, so we take the time to get a feel for what each client is looking for. This personal touch, as well as our honesty, integrity, and professionalism, is what we hope helps us stand out from the rest. Neither of us really ever thought we would be running our own painting company, but it happened, and we haven’t looked back.
I’ve always been involved in the construction world my entire life. My dad was a carpenter, and he put me to work at an early age cleaning job sites and learning the trade. I was decent at it, but
painting somehow just “clicked”. I first started painting as a gig in between tours back when I was chasing the rock n’ roll dream, and I really got into it. I remember thinking, “if this band thing doesn’t pay off, I could always paint houses”.
Shortly after I hung up my guitar and left the tour life behind, I started working with a small painting company out of Nashville full time. I learned a lot during those few years, and it all made sense to me right off the bat. It was like I was supposed to be a painter. I was not only learning all the ins and outs of the trade, but the value of product knowledge, and have been a bit of a product nerd ever since. It wasn’t until after I met my wife, Kacy, that the idea of running my own company ever came to mind.
I met Kacy right when she moved to Nashville from Atlanta. We instantly hit it off, and a few hops, skips, and jumps later we got married. Now, we have our amazing son, Tucker, and a growing painting company together. She was definitely the catalyst for starting this. I have always been a worker, but she’s always been a manager. She saw potential and she knew how to make that potential a reality. She is definitely the Yin to my Yang. We run this company together and equally: I do the face-to-face work and painting, and she handles all the bills, paperwork, taxes, and client calls. It wasn’t easy at first, and still isn’t, most days. One of the biggest struggles was finding that balance between work and home life, especially working with your spouse, who also works from home. If it was easy though, everyone would be doing it, right? Fortunately, through some trial and error over the years, we have found a great system that works well for the growth of both our company and our family.
Shortly after we started Mid-Tenn Painting, we moved from downtown Nashville to the country outside of Columbia. Her family had settled there, and with a (then) baby on the way and a brand new business to get off the ground, family close by was sounding sweeter and sweeter. It was a bit of a shock at first, since all of the amenities of city life were COMPLETELY gone, but now we wouldn’t trade it for anything. We live on a small farm, have horses, raise a garden, hunt, fish, and paint houses. Yeah country life has been great, but it sure would be nice to have an Oscar’s, The Perch, and a Kroger within walking distance.
Kacy and I enjoy being involved with the West Haven community. We have been blessed with the opportunity to have met and worked with so many amazing families, and look forward to continuing our service and creating more relationships within the neighborhood.
